Being this cute should be a crime

I would like for everyone to meet Ms Swirl Kitty. She is needle felted from merino wool. She loves to hang out with you while your doing crafts. Oh no I am been up to long, the toy cat is talking to me lol.

No I am just silly that way. I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.

Also wanted to say the first month of collecting donations for http://www.holyangelsnc.org/ is about to come to a end and I will have the total that has been raised so far at the end of the month. I have decided to wait till every three months to send them their money. So far not to much has been collected, but I am sure it will pick up.

If anyone wants or knows of anyone that would like to learn more about holy angels and donate, please put in honor of Jacob or better yet Jakie. Thanks it would mean a lot.

Happy etsy selling to everyone for this week. Wish everyone the best.

Happy Weekend Everyone

It's a long weekend for most, so I know that makes everyone happy. No weekend beach trip or any fun trip for me this Memorial day :( Nope I will be home trying to talk these small but painful kidney stones out of my body. Anyone know what I should do not to get them? I am open for all advice.

Any way instead of being gloomy about being stuck home, I am gonna give all customers free shipping in both shops till midnight EST Monday. So come by http://www.hairbling.etsy.com/ or http://www.splashesofcolor.etsy.com/

Here is a picture of my latest needle felted animal. I call him Zippydo the silly squirrel. He would love to have a new home. Zippydo says when you take him home 10% of his purchase price will go to http://www.holyangelsnc.org/

Slow Month

Have a lot of new supplies coming in for both shops. Sales have been slow to come this month. I was hoping to have more to donate to http://www.holyangelsnc.org/. I think the idea of sending a check every three months is going to be the best.

Going to try and get enough things made up to go to the flea markets and local craft shows. Never done a craft show yet. I think it would be fun to try.

I just invested in some polymer clay and am very excited for everything to arrive. I plan on trying to make some hair jewelry and some earrings out of it. Not sure what else yet. Will have to play around with it and see what I come up with.

Since I have new things coming, I want to try and move some older stuff out. I have decided to put my hair flowers in http://www.hairbling.etsy.com/ on sale. It will be a bogo sale. Just pay for the highest price one and the 50cent additional shipping. I really love the hair flower and enjoy wearing them myself. They brighten up your spring and summer outfits.

Hope everyone has a great week

Sharon

Need a rock to throw????

Always trying to think of new ideas. The other day I came across a free crafting site. I seen a dam**t doll and thought it was so funny. So I came up with my version. The dam**t rock. I needle felt wool and use a little firestar nylon with more wool for the hair.

I figure this way you can throw it and not break anything or anyone lol. Good little helper for that stress.

Just like everything else in my shops,10% of the sale will go to http://www.holyangelsnc.org/

This item can be found in http://www.splashesofcolor.etsy.com/

Free Items for sick Children

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. It's already Tuesday night and I have been slow on making any new crafts. I did get a new camera for Mothers day. Been taking new pictures of my items.

I hope to start taking pictures, to put on greeting cards soon. So many ideas, and not enough time in the day. Most of the day is filled with my little ones, but I wouldn't want it any other way.

There is a new listing on etsy. I decided to make teddy bears, or hairbows for anyone that has a really sick child. If you would like to receive one for your child please send me a message here or at hairbling.etsy.com or splashesofcolor.etsy.com

Blessings

This is a story of the start of Holy Angels

This is a short story that is found on www.holyangelsnc.org . I have had the pleasure of meeting Maria. In 07 I was there for her birthday. She is a beautiful soul.

Please visit their site and as always shop at hairbling and 10percent of the sale will go straight to holy angels. I cut a check each at the end of each month to send. Your invoice that arrives with your purchase will reflect this.

President/CEO Regina Moody (left) and first resident, Maria Morrow (right)Doctors did not expect the baby girl to live long beyond her December 20, 1955, birth. She was born medically fragile, with multiple disabilities. If she lived, the doctors said, the baby would have serious medical problems, severe mental retardation and physical disabilities.
Her young mother sought help from the Sisters of Mercy who operated a day care center under the direction of Sister Marie Patrice Manley. In January 1956, the young mother, a worker in one of the textile mills in Belmont, began to bring her fragile child to Sr. Patrice. When the baby became seriously ill, the mother asked the sisters to care for her child.
Each sister took turns caring for the infant who was named, Maria. She began to thrive with their attention and lots of medical care. She grew and developed far better than expected. Soon, other parents of children with multiple disabilities and mental retardation asked the Sisters of Mercy for help. The sisters set up a home, which eventually became Holy Angels. Mother Mary Benignus Hoban, who co-founded Holy Angels, called the children who came to live there, “God’s innocents.” Mother Benignus served as president of Holy Angels until 1997. She died on December 30, 2000. She was 94.
The late Kays Gary, a North Carolina newspaper columnist, wrote about Maria, the Sisters of Mercy and the other children. His friend, syndicated columnist, Jim Bishop, wrote stories, too. Their journalism brought support – and more children – to the Sisters of Mercy.
Then on October 2, 1961 – the Feast of the Guardian Angels – a new wing was formally dedicated to the care, education and development of children with mental retardation and other disabilities. What until then had been called “the Nursery” became Holy Angels. Later, in 1972, the newly built Main Center opened.
Today
Since then, Holy Angels has grown and developed several innovative programs to help meet the changing needs of people with developmental disabilities. The private, nonprofit 501(C)(3) corporation employs about 250 people, and provides programs and services to 70 children and adults. Residents range in age from 6-months-old to 62-years-old.
As for Maria, doctors discovered she does not have mental retardation. She works as a receptionist at the Holy Angels Specialized Community Residential Center (SCR) and she also helps out at Cherubs Candy Bouquets, the vocational program operated by Holy Angels in downtown Belmont.
Holy Angels has grown over the years to include four Intermediate Care Facilities for the Mentally Retarded (ICF/MR) Group Homes on the main campus, and two supported living homes. The main center houses an on-site day care called Little Angels Child Development Center. The campus also is home to Marywood, a building that houses the boardroom and the Holy Angels Foundation and the ICF/MR administrative offices.
Other facilities include two supported living homes in Belmont; PUSH Place, an on-site outside recreation area; and Camp Hope, a handicapped accessible camp with nature trails in Belmont on the South Fork River.
Holy Angels has received permission from the N.C. Division of Facilities Services to build a fifth intermediate care facility for the mentally retarded (ICF/MR) group home on the main campus. The ground breaking ceremony for the new fifteen-bed facility took place on Dec. 18, 2003.

First attempt at a blog

Short and sweet. I have a shop on etsy.com. http://www.hairbling.etsy.com/

The title for my blog spot is for my angel Jacob, who left this world on Dec 21, 07. No matter how bad he felt, he always had a smile to share.

Thats something many forget, that even though your life may pretty much bite at times. We can all still share something, if it be only a smile.

I want to let everyone know, I could never pay back the wonderful place that gave Jacob and his whole family so much. http://www.holyangelsnc.org/. One small thing I can do right now is donate 10percent of each sale to them.

Please visit their site and read the wonderful story of Holy Angels.
